  Narrative text is a type of text that tells a chronological story in the past tense.

  Narrative texts tell imaginative stories or decisive real stories, and are arranged according to the sequence of events that occurred in the past.

Purpose of Narrative Text
  The purpose of narrative text is to entertain the reader through an entertaining story.

The types of narrative texts include 

imaginary stories (fairytales)
mysteries (mysteries)
scary stories (forror stories)

Generic Structure of Narrative Text (Structure of Narrative Text)
Orientation
  The following is the opening part of a narrative text story. This section introduces the characters in the story (characters) and the background of the story which includes the setting of place, time, atmosphere, and social conditions (setting).

Complications
  This section contains the problems that occur in a story. In more detail, complications are further divided into 3 parts, namely:

Rising action: Problems are starting to arise

Climax: The climax of the problem

Falling action: The tension of the problem begins to decrease, and it begins to find a resolution point.

Resolution
  This section contains a narrative of the completion or ending of a text story. A story can end with a happy ending (happy ending), a sad ending (sad ending), or a hanging ending (cliffhanger).

Re-orientation
  The last part of the structure of the narrative text (narrative text) usually contains conclusions, moral messages (moral values), or changes in the character of the characters at the end of the story. This reorientation is related because it does not always have to be in a narrative text.

Characteristics of Narrative Text
To better understand the use of narrative text, let's explore its characteristics .  



Specific character
In a narrative, the author will create a specific character as the main character in the story. Not only the main character, but all the characters in the story will be written clearly starting from their name, shape, color, and character. For example Ariel the mermaid, the dwarves who have different characteristics, Dana the brave Moana.
